Building a More Real-Time Social Experience

Improving the platform one update at a time.
Lately I’ve been focused on making the platform feel faster, smoother, and more alive. One of the biggest improvements was adding live AJAX updates for post likes and comments so users no longer need to refresh the page just to see engagement updates.
Instead of reloading the entire timeline, likes and comments now update dynamically in real time. Small improvements like this make the platform feel much more modern and responsive during everyday use.
Inbox & Messaging Improvements
Cleaning up conversations and improving the messaging experience.
The messaging system also received several important updates. Conversations are now properly separated between users instead of appearing as one mixed stream of messages. Duplicate inbox users were also fixed so conversations only appear once in the sidebar.
These changes make the inbox much cleaner and easier to navigate, especially as more messages and conversations start building up across the platform.
Improving User Interaction
Faster interactions without full page refreshes.
Post interactions like likes and comment counts now update dynamically through AJAX responses. This creates a smoother experience and gives the timeline more of a live social media feel without interrupting the user.
I also spent time improving polling intervals and lightweight update handling to keep the platform responsive while avoiding unnecessary server load.
Building Forward
Small updates create a better overall platform experience.
Every improvement adds up over time. A faster inbox, live engagement counters, and smoother timeline interactions all help make the platform feel more polished and active.
There’s still a lot more coming, but these updates are another strong step toward building a more responsive and engaging social experience from the ground up.
